Does a school meet the diversity criteria?
Diversity criteria
A diverse field experience setting is one that meets or exceeds enrollment in at least two of the following four categories:
- English Language Learners enrollment of 10% or more
- Students of color enrollment of 20% or more
- Students from low income families enrollment of 20% or more
- Students with Disabilities (5% or at least one student with a disability in a teaching/instructional setting.)
Find information on English Language Learners, students of color, and students from low income families enrollment
- Go to the Interactive Illinois Report Card Web site
- On the home page, search for the school you are researching. You may search by school name, city, district, or county. Click on the school name link. Remember to search for school-level data.
- A profile for your selected school will appear. Click the "About Students" tab. Race/ethnicity data (as a percentage) appears by year. Total the percentages of students of color to determine if the school meets the Students of Color criterion. Note: Racial/ethnic demographic information is available on the initial school page (see pie chart in lower left corner).
- Remain in the "About Students" tab. See a second row of tabs on the left. Click "Educational Environment" tab. Data again appear by year. Column two (LEP or Limited English Proficiency) identifies the percentage of English Language Learners in the school. The third column identifies the percentage of Low Income students in the school (determined annually by enrollment in Free/Reduced School Meal Program).
