ITPS C. Telecommunications

In order to complete ITPS C, in accordance with the instructor, you must participate in class discussion boards that pertain to educational issues. In addition, you will explain an appropriate purpose or rationale for the use of discussion boards in the PK-12 classrooms. The educational purpose must be instructional, administrative, or curricular. You will write a description of what you did and provide an explanation of how you would use this technology in the classroom.

Possible discussion topics include how and why a teacher would use asynchronous telecommunication tools for teaching content (i.e., how this would work when teaching math, science, 3rd grade, Pre-K, etc.).

Asynchronous telecommunication may include:

  • use of e-mail
  • sending an attachment
  • use of an address book
  • use of a Web-board
  • participation in an online discussion group
  • use of a listserv

Synchronous telecommunication may include:

  • Use of instant messaging
  • Participation in a discussion group such as a chat in WebCT or Blackboard
