University High School Observation Request Form (pdf)
As a future teacher, we expect that you will behave professionally during your observations.
If for some reason you behave inappropriately, the classroom teacher will document it. In addition, if you arrive at your observation site dressed inappropriately, you will be sent home.
The school will notify the Lauby Center of your inappropriate behavior or dress, and you will not receive credit for the observation hour(s). Repeat offenders will not be allowed to observe in that school again.
All of the following clinical experiences must be preceded by required coursework and accompanied with a valid TB test and criminal background check.
You will begin your first supervised clinical experience during SED 245.08: Field Work Deaf & Hard of Hearing—Language. You will be in a classroom in the University Laboratory Schools or Peoria for 28-32 hours. You will observe and teach one lesson per day.
For your Field Base Experience, in SED 245.09: Field Work in Deaf and Hard of Hearing—Speech and SED 245.10: Field Work in Deaf and Hard of Hearing—Reading and School Subjects you will be placed within driving distance of campus and will teach ten lessons in speech, reading, and language. In SED 245.11: Field Work in Special Education for DHH Senior Practicum you will spend four weeks teaching all day, every day, in a school within driving distance of campus or in a residential school.
