Teacher Education Requirements
Certification
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) grants teacher/school certifications in the State of Illinois. All candidates that complete an approved program at Illinois State University, pass appropriate certification exams, and meet other ISBE requirements should be granted certification.
All teacher education candidates completing an initial teacher certification program and graduate candidates completing the reading specialist, school social work, school psychologist, school speech pathologist, administrative, LBS II programs or other graduate certification programs at Illinois State University must follow certain procedures in order to complete the process of obtaining their Illinois certification.
